How to use Version Control?

I got the Qt5.2.1 in my CentOS 6 machine, and found Git under Tools. I think it is about the "version control". I want to start using it, but I don't know how. I went back to create a new project just want to try out how to use the version control. When I put Git to "Add to version control", and click on "Manage ..." , an option dialog comes out and have all kinds of tabs. I have no idea how to fill in all the blanks. Could anyone point me to a place to learn what to do?

Do you mean you don't know how to use git from inside of the IDE ?
Or you don't know how to use git at all ?
