I build two qwtPlot and add them to the layout.
All works fine but I am unable to resize the window.
I can only resize horizontally but not vertically.

Sorry to post a "fake" answer but I'm trying to embed a qwt plot in a QGridLayout.Quote:

QwtPlot is a QWidget and there is nothing special about organizing it in Qt layouts.
