Default A very fresh new Qt programmer =)

    Hi guys.

I have post this on Qtforum.org but as I did not get any answer yet I thought i would try to here. Thanks for any help and suggestion in advance

    "Hello all

I don't even know how to srat this so I will just try from explaining what problems I found.

I use MAC OS X MacBook Pro (10.6) and I am going to make aplication using this system. So far it's become a bit confusing as things do not seem to look as they are in MS Windows. However, I have Mac not PC anymore.

Having said that, I found out there are Cocoa and Carbon options to progam in MAC OS X. I am completely cofused and as I am C++ programmer not Objective-C nor Objective-C++, I found that Qt is an excellent alternative for me

I am affraid qt became very difficult to start with. I am completely new using Mac and qt so I relly need your help guys.

So I have a few questions.

How should I install qt to make simle applications? So far I have installed qt SDK package and qt creator. It's not workin. qt creator does not see headfiles which are required to make simple 1 window application.

What can I use as a extension to improve developement

Will I really need to learn Cocoa and Objective-C/C++ to make more complex applications in Mac OS X?

Thanks for any kind of help or suggestions. I really need anything right now."

    best regards

you just need a single download as far as I know - the LGPL/Free Qt SDK for Mac, which you can find on the qt.nokia.com website.
You probably messed things up by installing QtCreator on top.
Just uninstall what you have done sofar and start over.
Once you're done installing Qt SDK, try one of the examples. If that still doesn't work, report back with any problems.

    good luck.

    Thanks Schnitzel

Well, maybe it's not a good forum to ask these questions but I don't know how to uninstall programs in MAC OS X yet both Qt Creator and qt-sdk-mac-opensource-2009.04.dmg and to be honest I do not know where the installer put all files when I was installing SDK from qt-sdk-mac-opensource-2009.04.dmg packet.

    How can I find it?

Your biological and technological distinctiveness will be added to our own. Resistance is futile.

Please ask Qt related questions on the forum and not using private messages or visitor messages.

    Can someone please help me?

I have installed qt sdk 2009-04.dmg which contained QtSDK.mpkg then as I couldn't find files I tried to install QtCreator. Now when I start qt sdk.mpkg, on the welocme screen it says:

Welcome to the Qt SDK installer! This will guide you through the steps to getting Qt 4.5 SDK Opensource Edition installed on your machine!

After a successful install, you can find most new things in /Developer. Specifically things will be located in the following places:

    • Qt Creator, Qt Designer, Qt Linguist: /Developer/Applications/Qt
    • Qt Documentation: /Developer/Documentation/Qt
    • Qt Examples: /Developer/Examples/Qt
    • Qt Plugins: /Developer/Applications/Plugins
    • Qt Frameworks: /Library/Frameworks
    • Qt Libraries: /usr/lib
    • qmake, moc, uic, etc.: /Developer/Tools (symlink to /usr/bin)

Because I have installed qt sdk before I tried to find those files in their exact places. Unfortunately, I couldn't find any Qt folders where they supposed to be, such as /developer/Applications, /Developer/Examples etc.

When I run qt sdk.mpkg again it says "The installation Failed"

What am I supposed to do now? How can I get rid of everything which is connected to any sort of Qt and tried to install qt sdk again?

Please, let someone direct me what to do now.

Thanks for any sugestions in advance.
