how to scale a picture/image?

Hi,all

I want to display an image in 35*35 size insize TFT screen of 480*800. The image can be in fromat(JPG,JPEG,BMP,PNG,etc).
now,if i have image of large size say im MB and of size larget than 35*35,than what can i do?And how can i do this?

I am very new to all this.so if any one has the code kindly suggest me the way.
