Pan audio stream using Phonon

I've implemented a media player that correctly plays audio streams. I was wondering how, if possible, using the Phonon library I could pan the audio to the left or right channels.

I've queried the backend capabilities but only get a list of 4-5 useless effects. On the tutorial page it lists an audiopanorama effect, which I think is what I need, but is absent on my system.

Environment is Visual Studios 2008 on WinXP. General audio format is .wav.
