    Default Your favourite/recommended third-party libraries

    Hi,

I am relatively new to Qt (less than 3 months of effective coding using the Qt framework) and this is the reason I was wondering whether you guys would mind sharing the third-party libraries that you use in your Qt project(s)?

Personally, I have been using or planning to use the following ones:
    • QtSingleApplication: it comes from the Qt Solutions library, and I use it to ensure that only instance of my application can be run at any given time.
    • QScintilla: a port to Qt of Neil Hodgson's Scintilla C++ editor control. (Scintilla is, for example, used in Notepad++ on Windows.)
    • Qwt: I think everybody knows / should know about this library?
    • LibQxt: an extension library for Qt. I am currently using for its command options parser among other things.
    • PythonQt: I am thinking of using this library to support Python scripting within my application.
    • Soprano: another library which I might end up using to manipulate RDF data.

Otherwise, I used to use QtMmlWidget when it was still available at http://qt.nokia.com/products/appdev/...s/qtmmlwidget/, but it has now gone and it is not available from Qt Solutions. Would anyone know where I could find it (or something similar) nowadays?

    Cheers, Alan.

I don't understand why my thread has been moved to General Programming. It has nothing to do here. It's related to Qt programming using Qt-based/specific libraries, so...

I wish a reason was given for moving someone's thread!

Ups, my bad, should go to General Dicussion...

Well that is a new point you did not mention in your first post. There you only speak of "third-party libraries" which we use in Qt projects. That does not necessary means that the library is itself written in Qt. Nevertheless even with that limitation it still belongs here. Therefore I moved it (now to the right place).

And to enlarge the list: Sometime when it comes to work with PDF files I use Poppler.

I would have thought this kind of thread to be useful to Qt developers (both newbies and old timers) who might not have been aware of the availability of certain third-party libraries which they could readily use in their Qt project. However, this thread now being in this category, I wouldn't expect many people to take notice of it. So, yes, thanks for nothing. (As for the libraries themselves, had you checked them, you would have realised you are wrong, but nevermind indeed.)

First, I have had a look at the libraries and realized that all was written with Qt, but then you should have chosen the subject more carefully. Also this is not a topic for the Qt Programming Forum. And here people will notice it also. Most people use the "What's new?" Anyway, for such a list you intend to receive, a wiki article would be better than a forum post.
