Of course you can use the Qt 4.8 libraries to run the examples that come with 4.8

4.8.x binary libraries (built with a matching compiler) can be used as a drop-in replacement for any earlier Qt 4 binary library. Applications built to run with Qt 4.7 will run using the later libraries: the reverse is not generally the case.
