    Default Qt vs Flash

Could someone explain to me the pros and cons of Flash vs Qt?

I know Flash comes with tweens and stuff, but why go with Qt at all?

Thats a pretty weird question, imo.

Qt link is a cross platform GUI (and non GUI) application framework. In order to use Qt you must at least know a little C++ link, because Qt was primarily developed as a cross platform C++ GUI frontend.

Well, and about Flash, it's a multimedia authoring software especially designed for web applications.

You really can't compare those two, because their purposes are completely different.

Is spanner a better tool than a screwdriver? You can't answer such question, because both of these tools are for different purposes.

Flash is a scripting language designed for creating interactive animations that can be embedded in web pages (regardless what it is used for nowadays), while Qt is a multiplatform framework for writing applications.

I personally preffer screwdrivers... You can always try to use it as a hammer, etc. But the most important tool for me is my Swiss Army Knife (yeah!) - and it even has two (!!) screwdrivers!

Well here is the issue Upper Mgt wants to make visually compelling applications. They see our flash guys churn out cool stuff quickly, so why keep using Qt? It seems with the flash projector you can almost do anything anyway.

What kind of applications? Every tool is good for certain tasks, if your management wants only small flashy animations that simply present some data, there is no point in using Qt, but I doubt that flash is a good choice for complex applications.

Where the emphasis is on applications.
Maybe you can call a flash script an "application" but that will be only academical.
Qt is designed as GUI tool kit for C++ applications.
But it has far larger usability scope then that.
Besides, can you run flash scripts with out a browser?
    If not, why use flash?
You can do nifty things with power point or OO-Impress as well.
Ask your upper management to draw a requirement document to the software they want (which might take them some time, since they will find out, once they start dealing with the specifics, they don't really know what they want) - and then see which tools are best fit to answer those requirements.
And from experience, the requirements will exceed flash's ability for sure.
