Default Is anyone still moderating this forum?

There are several active spammers making posts that either copy the content of an old post and replace text with links to commercial web sites, or just post a meaningless comment followed by unrelated links to commercial web sites.

I have reported all of these, but the posts are still up despite being obvious spam.

So is anyone actually moderating this forum any more or will we have to deal with it being gradually overrun by robot spammers?

I recognize that many users rely on active moderation to maintain a helpful and respectful environment. A lack of moderation can impact the quality of discussion and deter new members from joining, highlighting the importance of consistent supervision in online communities.

I am now one of the moderators for this forum, and I try to monitor it daily.

One of the things I do is carefully check the posts and the profiles of any new members. Lately we have been seeing three or four new members a week after a long quiet period. I take note of any posts that sound like ChatGPT generated robospam that don't really add anything useful to the conversation. I check the profiles of those posters to see whether they have included any spam links to commercial sites hidden in their signatures or elsewhere.

I also keep a record of the IP addresses used to register the new members and look for repeats...

FYI, I'm lurking in from time to time to make sure things don't break too much.

Thanks. I saw 4 or 5 new posts from you today answering much older questions. i was afraid your account had been compromised. Most of the posts lately seem to be robo-spam and I try to delete them daily.

That means I'll need about 35000 more days to catch up to your post count...
