Cannot type into Qt Creator

Hi . Im using Qt creator to edit and build QgroundControl (PX4) to add a new vehicle.
I have built and run my edited version - yes it runs correctly - although now fails to display pictures of the selected vehicles.

However I have an extremely basic problem: I cant type into the editor!
I have succeeded by cutting and pasting characters from another editor ( any editor except Qt creator).
I saw somewhere that editing mode was enabled with the Esc Key, but this has no effect as far as I know.

System: Ubuntu 24.04 on ASUS Nitro 5.
Any advice appreciated,

Press Ctrl + Shift + P to see if Qt Creator is in read-only mode. Then you can turn on/off editing mode by pressing Esc and try typing again. Good luck.
