Default Failure to Open File on Ubuntu 9.10

Hello, I recently installed Qt4 and upon running qmake on all .pro files, I get the following response:
    Failure to open file: /usr/local/Trolltech/Qt-4.6.3/examples/Makefile
Unable to generate makefile for: /usr/local/Trolltech/Qt-4.6.3/examples/examples.pro
I followed all of the instructions, I have no idea what could be wrong. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Check if you have permission to write in /usr/local/Trolltech/Qt-4.6.3/examples/
You have to run a level 3 diagnostic.

Ashes to ashes, Qt to Qt ( wysota )
