Question Windows fonts not working in QT?

Hopefully this is the right forum:

I'm running Ubuntu 8.10 with msttcorefonts installed. The fonts work fine in Firefox and Gnome and so on, but not in QT (4.4.3-0ubuntu1.1).

The Windows fonts show up in the list on the Qt Configuration fonts panel but look no different than the default Sans font.

I've attached an image comparing Arial in the system font preferences (left) vs. the QT Configuration (right).

Anyone have any ideas how to fix this? Thanks!

To me this is the same font, simply with different antialiasing mechanism applied. Arial might be setup as an alias to Sans font (there is no real font called "sans", it's an alias to Helvetica, Arial or some other sans-serif font).

I checked for aliases but there wasn't one set. Is there a way to adjust the anti-alias style/amount? The fonts look different to me but I could easily be wrong. Thanks!
